Charity Rye Whiskey fetches $35,000. News reaches us that a rare bottle of George Washington's Distillery Straight Rye Whiskey signed by former president George H.W. Bush raised $35,000 last week at a gala auction in the States. The proceeds will go towards educational programs sponsored by DISCUS. The winning bidder was John R. Frank, vice chairman of Sidney Frank Importing. Ouch! Still, hopefully at least the cork stayed in - unlike the £29,400 Mutter Bowmore last month, which has been getting up the noses of the Malt Maniacs...
