Bowmore Tempest Reviews
Tasting Notes by Tim F
Nose: Very appetising whiffs of smoke and sweetness: iodine, coal and wet bonfire balanced with forward notes of barley sugar, honey and a hint of marmalade and cream toffee. Pleasantly oaky. Develops on summer fruit squash and faint hints of the exotic fruits that much older Bowmores are famed for. Also a pleasantly musty spice.
Palate: Big bonfire notes, quite fiery. BIG spicy black pepper and chilli notes, wrapped in thick wood and coal smoke. Much more savoury and powerful than suggested by the nose.
Finish: The dusty oak notes from the nose emerge as the conflagration of coal and smoky spices fades. Finally some sweetness very late on.
Comment: The best 'standard issue' distillery-bottled Bowmore we've had in years.

This stuff taste like my mother apple tart on a bad sunday
apple juice? appley cordial? i don't think i purchased the same whisky as john lashay or rico. tim f's notes seem on the money to me: big smoke and also fruit and some floral notes. a wonderful counterpoint to the sherried ob's.
Top notch - The best in many many many years! They are doing some very good stuff.
There is no any tempest in here! It is just an appley cordial.
Very calvadossy, on the edge of the apple juice unfortunately!
Lovely. The best new Bowmore in recent years. Not very peaty though... would be nice if the next batch in this series upped the ppms somewhat.
If you like a sweet, but still complex whisky, this is the one!It is a steal
