A bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel – a richer variation of JD, with less sweetness and more power than the No.7. A favourite in bars, this is a must for aficionados.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Toasty notes from the oak, and well-defined aromas of honeyed fruit and golden syrup. Rich, but still clean and precise, with an appealing nuttiness.

Palate: Drier than expected, this is a big-hitting bourbon, with broad brush strokes of honey, popcorn and cinnamon, countered by punchy, peppery notes, some numbing clove notes, and toasty oak. Less sweet than the No.7, and all the better for it.

Finish: Spicy fruit and oak persists.

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

Nose: Rich and sweet-smelling with golden syrup, demerara sugar, polished and varnished old furniture, nougat, pleasing leafy herbs, fennel, liquorice and sugared almonds.

Palate: Spicy initially, followed by a wave of oak and honey; it becomes very leafy next, with the herbal notes in the background, before a secondary wave of sweet clove-flavoured rock and wood glue.

Finish: Great length, with a tingling herby spiciness and fading honeyed sweetness.

Very nice , for me has a slight smell of sweet acetone . Not as sweet as No7 , less bite even though its a higher proof . Taste varys by batch .so if you find one you love - buy a second bottle and stash it away . It just beats out Woodford for me .

While there are some very shins from bottle to bottle, this is always been one of my favorites. Extremely smooth, lots of toasted oak and a mild honey sweetness with no burning aftertaste.

I had to get a second bottle! You have to try this! You only live once, so don't think twice. Just enjoy this excellent whiskey!

For those that claim differences between TN whiskey and bourbon. The distinction is a matter of appellation. TN whiskies conform with the criteria for bourbon and since using the Lincoln process is not uncommon for bourbons and an exception for one of the 4 distillers, it makes the point moot. Furthermore, even legally the definition of TN whiskey in NAFTA includes the word bourbon. In terms of a review, this is an excellent product from the bottle to the last drop with a very complex profile that range from very sweet notes and vanilla in the nose and opening to a lingering aftertaste with charred character and toffee and long lasting oakiness. Fruit and fusel notes are also perceived as a part of the profile. Remember that the exact balance will change from cask to cask.

Great presentation , I bought on the back of the rave reviews on this website. The taste is far from smooth Iv not tasted anything like it unless Iv got a bad batch of it .

JD No.7''s big brother! It is quality all the way, from the packaging to the last drop. A proper grown up whiskey with a good oaky hit. No.7 is for mixers, single barrel just needs another single barrel

Make no mistake this is a good whiskey,a big step up from old no7. This whiskey is a lot smoother and obviously aged for a considerably longer period. Is it worth the extra money ?I would say yes and will definitely purchase again. However from financial prospective four roses small batch is a great a buy,and very close in terms of quality.
