• Ardbeg Uigeadail
Product Description

A fine drop of Ardbeg bottled at cask strength. A marriage of Ardbeg from bourbon barrels and sherry butts which gives a sweet and smoky finish to this malt. Uigeadail is the loch from which all Ardbeg water flows. An absolutely stunning whisky, and following the demise of Airigh nam Beist, this probably represents the best value in the core range.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by the Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Chocolate-covered caramel and barley sugar with smoky leather, raisins and linseed oil.

    • Palate

Chewy and oily with rich fruit-cake sweetness leading to honey and barbecue smoke.

    • Finish

Long, dry and sweet with honey and treacle.

  • Tasting Notes from the Producer

    • Nose

Rich and weighty with heady and smoky aromatics. At full strength, the initial aroma is a beguiling mix of warm Christmas cake and walnut oil fused with fresh ocean spice, cedar and pine needles, followed by a smoky coal fire and a deep scent of well-oiled leather. The sweetness of treacle toffee and chocolate-coated raisins bring indulgence through the smoke. With water, the deep smokiness increases in intensity, reminiscent of Christmas pudding on fire; flowering currants and warm baked banana-and-walnut bread.

    • Palate

Full-flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. The flavour is initially sweet as Christmas cake begins to soak into the tongue. A burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey-glazed smoked food and chewy treacle.

    • Finish

Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisin, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.

    AB,

A true Islay giant of a dram. You dont start with the Uigeadail you finish with it. If you are tasting a few drams in the evening the this is the big finish. If you like Islay's peaty smoke you will love it, complex and drinkable. A little smoother than Ardbeg Corryvreckan and more exciting than the 10 year old. Normally I taje it neat, however with a splash of water it does open some of the tastes up. Either with or without you get a nice caramel, red dark fruit tastes, and a splash of salt on the lips. The smoke comes throughout the experience and warns enough to satisfy.

    Anonymous,

Just drink it. Do not sniff it first! One is not prepared for the incredible beauty and the powerful tones with an aftertaste that only leaves one craving for more!!!

    AB,

This and An Oa are my favourite scotch’s.

    Eagle,

Unfortunately, it's a whiskey that's too young to handle the alcohol percentage. A more wild and raw whiskey than 10 yo.

    Max,

Just done a tasting session with friends incl 5 top rated scotches. All agreed evnt with the smoke and peat, it was still very classy and had BY FAR the longest, lingering, oily, delicious finish of all of them. Very nice and a permanent member of your collection
