A fine drop of Ardbeg bottled at cask strength. A marriage of Ardbeg from bourbon barrels and sherry butts which gives a sweet and smoky finish to this malt. Uigeadail is the loch from which all Ardbeg water flows. An absolutely stunning whisky, and following the demise of Airigh nam Beist, this probably represents the best value in the core range.Tasting Notes (2)
- Fruit Cake
Tasting Notes by the Whisky Exchange
Chocolate-covered caramel and barley sugar with smoky leather, raisins and linseed oil.
Chewy and oily with rich fruit-cake sweetness leading to honey and barbecue smoke.
Long, dry and sweet with honey and treacle.
Tasting Notes from the Producer
Full-flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. The flavour is initially sweet as Christmas cake begins to soak into the tongue. A burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey-glazed smoked food and chewy treacle.
Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisin, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.

Just done a tasting session with friends incl 5 top rated scotches. All agreed evnt with the smoke and peat, it was still very classy and had BY FAR the longest, lingering, oily, delicious finish of all of them. Very nice and a permanent member of your collection
Pretty average these days compared to the original glorious batches. The period from 2003 to 2013 seem to be the golden years for this expression, after that it started relying too heavily on the peat and the sherry influence has gotten far lighter. About on par with Laphroaig Quarter Cask I'd say, but with a bit more honey-sweetness.
Ya have tried it , more on smoky side , not quite smooth
Great Service throughout.
The balance of sweet and smoke is very well done! The smallest dash of water rounds this dram very nicely. Great dram - highly recommended!
