Another small-batch blend of fine rye whiskies distilled in a small copper pot still, this is a characterful, robust, smoky whisky with a pleasingly sweet palate.

Astoundingly moreish, it has all the spice and pepper you want, but fantastically tempered by fruit and sweetness. Blows any of the all-rye American whiskies I've tried far out of the water.

Better than Dickel Rye and Rittenhouse (and I like those). Unmistakably RYE and full bodied. Definitely pumpernickel and european rye bread aroma/flavor to it. Red apple (and apple seeds). I have 2 bottles of this. The "current" green label one that says "made with pot still rye" - that's the one I'm reviewing. And a yellow label (without 2012 on it) that says "made with malted rye" - I haven't tried it yet. From what I gather this is AFTER the 2012 edition but before the switch to 100% unmalted rye. I wonder how collectible these are :) BTW, this is not a blend, it's 100% rye. AND it doesn't taste like the mainstream Canadian whiskies, it's very good.

Compared to the Crown Royal Rye that one Whiskey of the year this is so far ahead in all aspects, smoother less harsh nose, perfect ABV at 43% and a great long lasting finish that sticks around as long as a few peated scotches. Great value for $.

A nicely smooth blended whiskey. You can taste the rye which differentiates it from other blends. Excellent value for money though.

Previous batches were better by a country mile; this latest is younger and thinner but still a very good 100% rye though not sure how anyone gets smoke on this.
