Product Description
Introduced in 2010, after cask strength versions in 2004 and 2005, this is the first officially-bottled Caol Ila 25yo to be bottled at 43%. It's nice to see growing recognition for this excellent distillery, and this is a very welcome addition to the official range, with a rich, gentle mouthfeel and restrained, coal-esque phenols.

This is an affordable exotic whisky. Not too many premium labels make a 25 year anywhere near this price, and the lower price tag doesn’t hint at the superb quality. It is a little bit subdued in flavor. It has the same Smokey flavor more commonly found in Lagavulin products, but it’s less pronounced and doesn’t have that strong, medicinal taste. All in all, this is top shelf all the way. It’s expensive, but it’s actually quite a value.
Excellent drum very smooth the smoky to the degree that I like , will definitely buy this one again
What a beautiful and subtle whisky. I love the unpeated Caol ila releases, so thought I’d try the 25yro core range. It is very different, but still high quality. There is no mistaking the peat straight from uncorking, but it’s not overpowering. There is sweetness, spice, some smoke on the pallet and some power to it. I’ve not unlocked all the more subtle flavours yet, but they are there just below the smoky peat. The finish is so smooth, plenty of peat and some spices again. Reasonably long finish. With regards price, I’ve bought plenty of cheap whisky and regretted every mouthful until it was finished and I’ve bought a reasonable amount of what some would consider higher priced and never thought of the price again after opening the bottle and enjoying it from start to finish. You tell me which is the more expensive pursuit of the two. There is no shortage of money on the planet, but there is a lack of quality. Fill your life with some quality where you can. Your alternative is a frugal life you’re kids and relatives will approve of at your will reading.
Complex fill your mouth and sinus with the earth of time Just excellent value
I have a fairly extensive collection and decided to add the Caol Ila 25 to it since my brother had spoke highly of it. Bottom line I like it a lot! It is very smooth when drunk neat and still has the complexity of the 25 year old scotch. It is somewhat expensive, but one I would recommend for the serious single malt lover to have in their collection to enjoy for yourself and with others.
