    So Dr Tom passed away & I wound up with a kork & seal capped bottle of 5*. Without a clue or a bit of due diligence I had at it along with a suitable Boxing Day cigar. Obviously the 5* was well bottle mellowed. Never having seen the twist tie type cap I got to goggling. Turns out the kork & seal cap makes it (& I''m guessing) a 60''s. bottling. Smooth as the proverbial baby''s behind. (There was a little schmutz around the cap - tasting the whisky leads me to believe it was external rust & not leakage.) A fine blend. Back in the day I,m sure it compared well to what was on offer. Today its liquid history. To Dr Tom, my Dad & all the whisky drinkers from the Greatest Generation - Xmas cheer & we miss you.
