Product Description
A whisky commemorating the end of an era in Whisky history - the enactment of the Scotch Whisky Regulations of 2009. After the 22nd of November 2011 whiskies can no longer be labelled as Vatted Malts, the new term being the (debatably) confusing Blended Malt Whisky. This bottling, a cask strength vatting of 35 year old Speyside whisky and 26 year old Islay whisky, is Compass Box's tribute.

NoseA deep, smoky nose but its a peatiness that's well integrated with a lush fruitiness. Dry roasted spices and tobacco. The overall effect is like woodsmoke clinging to the clothes while sitting round a campfire.
PalateLight smoky to start then it deepends into those cooked fruits and a little black olive tapenade.
FinishSweet and Smoked.
CommentsEvery element in harmony and adding to a complex whole. A triumph.
9.2/10.

Not Compass Box at the very top of its game, but pretty damn good nevertheless. This is a mix of malts from different distilleries and it has the company's distinctive DNA all over it, combining siege cannon-strength peated malt with rich, fruity sherried whisky. It's clumsier than the wonderful Flaming Heart but in the same ballpark, and I have to declare an interest - I adore this combination when it's delivered right. 90 Points.

The best scotch I have, the best of my two favorite regions, in one bottle. There is a lot going on with this scotch, I’m no expert, however I taste about 20 different flavours with a peat smoke finish. I own about 40 bottles, this and Johnny Walker Green are my only blends. I will try more Compass Box for sure.
