A majestic 40yo Bas Armagnac from Darroze, bottled for their Grands Assemblages range. With excellent complexity and finesse alongside powerful rancio, this is the perfect gift for any brandy-lover approaching that significant birthday at the end of their fourth decade.Tasting Notes (1)

Tasting Notes by Rocky
Lots going on, with notes of grapes, almonds, raisins, eucalyptus and a hint of rancio.
Soft, balanced and full of flavour. It's a melange of lemon, raisins, Christmas cake, fudge, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Exceptionally long, but with an elegance that defies its age.

I was given this bottle as anniversary gift and like my marriage it is a festival for the senses with the clean fresh scent of orange zest, rancio, dark chocolate and tropical fruits. The palate is remarkable. My mouth was watering from the flavour of Seville orange zest, rancio reminiscent of an well-aged cognac, and wood spices and a touch honey and dark chocolate. The finish was medium to long. I will be buying another bottle soon.
A real treat, for lovers of good Armagnac. The nose is dominated by aromas of oak, but also hints of grape skins, dried berries, marmalade, cherries, gooseberries, leather and toffee. The palate is silky, with a mix of spice, oak and fruit. An absolutely exceptional spirit.
Weak tasting, mild varnish taste. Tasting notes did not reflect my experience
