A special edition whisky from Ben Nevis in celebration of their 185th year. It is an attempt at recreating the McDonald's Traditional Ben Nevis which was a popular dram in the 1880s.

Medium body, delicate but recognizable smoke. Excellent choice!
Really very good. If you don't like peat, stay away. This is a lovely bright, lemony, briney dram that has nice rounded edges that recall vanilla custard. It's really quite similar to Lagavulin 8, if you happen to have tried that (which incidentally is my favourite whisky full stop). It's not incredibly complex and the finish is medium, it being 46%, but an enjoyable drop nonetheless.
Just brilliant. My fav Highlander.
McDonald's Traditional Ben Nevis exceeded my initial expectations. It leans toward rather old school in style, a very well made dram with good structure and distinct character. Peat is rather gentle, this is a vibrant and very drinkable dram indeed. It represents good value for a premium NAS whisky. Well done, Ben Nevis. 89/100
Nose suggests fruit with some gentle peat smoke, great interplay and balance between the two. Also some marmalade and apricot intertwined with vanilla and peat. Palate suggests plenty of dark chocolate and dried fruits with great concentration and a hint of orange zest as well as fruit cake. Body is medium to full. The finish is long and dry with juniper berries and more dark chocolate, oaky notes and just a tiny bit of bitterness is present.
