Glenglassaugh Revival
Product Description

The Glenglassaugh Distillery was mothballed from 1986 until 2008 and this the first whisky to be made from spirit distilled at the distillery since it reopened. It was matured in a mixture of first-fill bourbon casks and red wine casks before a final short finish in first-fill oloroso sherry butts.

    Bryce K.,

The distiller's notes above state "final short finish in first-fill oloroso sherry butts." For me, the sherry component completely overwhelms everything else going on to the point it's almost a caricature of a sherry finished whisky. Or more to the point it tastes more like a whisky finished sherry than a sherry finished whisky. Heavy handed and artificial tasting. Whatever they were aiming for, they missed.

    Anonymous,

Brilliant whisky! It has quite a lot of toffee but isn't too sweet and is very very drinkable. It is a steal for the price.
