The original 'extra-old' cognac, first bottled in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for family and friends. Darker and much more complex than the VSOP, with appealing leather and tobacco notes and a touch of spice – a great cigar Cognac.Tasting Notes (1)
- Black Pepper
- Dark Chocolate
- Dried Fruit
Producer's Tasting Notes
The first wave, rich in dried-fruit aromas such as prunes and dried figs overcomes you. The aromas evolve to more dense notes of chocolate and black pepper, mellowed by cinnamon, clove and cardamom.
Very balanced on the palate, XO confirms the aromas discovered by scent: dried fruit and chocolate. Elegant and robust, it reveals balance, roundness and harmony among aromas underlined by the strength of peppery notes and vegetable fragrances from the oak.
A lovely long aftertaste is enrobed in velvet, conferring the last sweet notes of cinnamon and vanilla.
More from Hennessy
New to Cognac, I have always been Tequila and Whisky guy and decided to change it up and get into the world of Cognac. My first bottle was actually D'usse, (not knowing its from a celebrity) On the first taste it was a little harsh but ended up being not bad. None of the cinnamon or floral that they say. this was more of a mixer to me and tried it with Lemonade and it was AMAZING. So yesterday I went out and purchased a bottle of this Hennessy XO and it was much nicer, smooth, silky on the throat with a hint of spice at the end. Now Ill never know how people can taste 20 things in a alcohol drink. I can only taste a couple things. I do like this Hennessy though, I will be buying again, But I will also be trying them all till I find one that is truly ultra smooth and a little more fruity. If you know whats better, let me know. 3 stars is low I know but I am new to this style of drink and Im just trying be honest.
My favorite spirit I dont touch any other. Smooth warm full bodied its taste is unique a wonder of the universe to be shared
It was an excellent flavour, very pleased with my purchase
I have been drinking Hennessy XO since the heady days of the Hennessy Gold Cup horse race. I worked for The Sporting Life newspaper and have been an avid drinker since. A superb product
Super nice product
