Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Mike Gibson, The Whisky Exchange
An elegant nose of walnut and tart red fruit gives way to plum, candied cherry and frangipane on the palate, with a characteristically luscious finish full of Parma violets.
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose
Stewed prunes soaked in Earl Grey tea. Aromatic and characterful. Aromas of dark chocolate, pink peppercorns, pineapple and mango. Very approachable.
Palate
Soft, silky mouthfeel – absolutely delightful. Fruity and seductive, with candied orange peel plus notes of coffee and dark chocolate, but still elegant. A sweet spiciness runs through it, binding it together.
Finish
Rich fruitiness and aromatic citrus notes last longest.
Comment
An iconic Cognac that is a delight to drink. Elegant, perfumed and satisfying.

Absolute explosion of flavours and tasting notes. It's not complex though - imagine dried raisins soaked in cognac (which is what it's actually is), put turned up to 11. Intense sweet - but not too much - taste, prunes, fruits. Long finish. Was lucky that I paid 35€ for bottle.
One of my favorite big 4 cognac houses
I love this Cognac
It is extremely smooth and is very pleasant. I was given a 50cl miniature, and really enjoyed the experience. But a one off for me! I don't think it's 5 times as good as a £20 standard bottle of Martell, and who wants to spend £105 on a bottle of Cognac?
This is a very fine cognac, and worthy of spending the extra required for a good XO. Having sampled many I always return to the Chateau Montifaud XO which can be found for about ?30 less and for my tastebuds is superior
