Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Producer's Tasting Notes

    • Colour

      Dark amber.

    • Nose

Very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, rather than overpowering the other aromas present. Toasted marshmallows, herbs and rich fruits appear over time.

    • Palate

Incredibly well balanced - rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows from the kiln.

    • Finish

The gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more!

Another winner from from my favorite distillery. It’s basically Springbank minus the sherry cask influence. It has a really nice creamy/vanilla feel. It’s also distilled the standard 2 times and opposed to 2.5 times for Springbank. My only complaint is that it’s really not more heavily peated than Springbank.

I keep coming back to this bottle. A smooth warm body with a lighter peatiness. If you're looking for something really peaty then this might not hit the mark, but there's a lot to it, really grows on you.

Massive Springbank fan so thought a NAS peated Longrow would be a cheap treat. However, was taken back by how non peaty this was. I mean, for the price could get a 10 year old Laphroaig, this is mellow and immature. It's a bottle of disappointment I'm afraid.

Give it time to open up a bit, and you will be rewarded with nice subtle peat/smoke.

Try adding some water, changes the whole character of the whisky.
