Don Papa Rum was first created in 2012 and made it to the UK two years later. Distilled in small batches from sugar cane grown on the Philippines island of Negros and aged in American oak for 7 years. This is packed with vanilla flavours and a hint of spice.

One of my absolute favourites - yes it is sweet and you can taste the vanilla - but thats what I love about it.

As others have said, very sweet almost sickly, artifical taste of vanilla and sherbet. Absolutely regret buying it. I'll save it to mix into a punch. Won't buy again.

I enjoy rum, by no means an expert but I've tried a few. This is at the same price point as El dorado and Diplomatico etc and is absolutely not in the same league. Tastes like sugar syrup and vanillin. The label is deceptive, makes it look like a respectable brand but don't be fooled. If you like sweet sugary rum with a very, very intense vanilla flavor then go for it but I will never, ever buy another bottle of this. I looked at it in my liquor cabinet just this evening and got the head shakes you get when you remember drinking or eating something yuck.

It's an amazing Rum, especially for drinkers that go for the slightly sweeter, more buttery side. It's also probably one of the best introductory rums out there for people that want to get into rum but don't know where to start, it lacks any heat and it's been very smoothed out. For people that complain about the supposedly "artificial" flavor is due to the addition of some molasses and possibly vanillin after the distillation. The last part is mostly due to the murky waters of rum regulations regarding to what can or can not be considered rum, thus making rums vasly different from each other due to the distillers using lots of different methods and tricks. If it reminded me of one more rum, that would be Pusser's Original Admirality Rum.
