This is a grand silky malt. A distinctive yet not overpowering smokeyness with more than a hint of vanilla.
I was blown away by the high quality of this Islay NAS. Wonderfully done. Smoke and vanilla. Good stuff.
The first distillery on Islay for around 150 years, a mere youngster in age but stands tall amongst its neighbours. The nose reminds me of Big Peat, it has a savoury note, highly peated, but a lovely fruity floral note as well. It's a graceful bruiser that I think I can still taste the next day sometimes. It mellows nicely with time in the glass and takes water pretty well. Very oily and tastes, feels and smells of quality. The peat influence in this release is very noticeable but if you're into that kind of thing then look no further. It's unique and offers as much if not more than some it's neighbours
