A 2001 vintage Aberlour that has been exclusively matured in casks made from Quercus Alba - American White Oak. This steps away from the distillery's usual sherried style, emphasising coconut and vanilla from the cask and fruit from the spirit.

This is more interesting and refined compared to the Aberlour 10 YO. I think I will cherish this one for now and look out for a similar cask maturation with a little more age. It is surprising how fruity the Aberlour distillate is as I had assumed much came from the sherry cask. This is a beautiful contrast to the 10 year old and a worthy part of my collection. Great value for sure. I will buy more of this.

Single malt of exceptional charm that portraits the distillery character of Aberlour. Casks filled in 2001, bottled in 2012, making this dram 11 YO. Colour: Copper. Nose: Light, rich sweetness to it with complex aromas. Taste: Apple, banana, coconut, fruit salad sweets, toffee and lemon cream. A hint of cinnamon spice and a little drying on the back of the throat. Finish: Warm, medium length finish with a little spice and lots of fruity sweetness.
