Clean and very sweet
Just had a few glasses tonight. Very nice whiskey but lacks complexity. If you just want something “smooth” with a fruity taste pick up a bottle. I’m not a fan of overly strong or heavy drinks so this is perfect for me but more experienced drinkers may find it too basic.
I ordered two bottles of the Glenfiddich 12 year Old Speyside signal malt scotch whisky on the 15th of June and it arrived on the 17th of June and the presentation box it comes in was great and unique and before I tasted the Glenfiddich 12 year old I read the box to read all the love that goes into making the whisky and how it's matured etc. Then after that I went on to smell and taste the whisky and it definitely was a great and unique whisky and I highly recommend it to anyone and I'f your a whisky fan just starting out this one is a must have.
I have yet to taste a better "standard" (12YO or equivalent) Speyside: it seems to improve with each year that passes. If you are used to rich, heavy whisky you might need to give it time but persist and it will grow on you. Great balance and top value.
It is a decent, competent malt. Nothing complex, or packed full of numerous flavors but its not designed for that. It's a light, easy going entry malt, and I think it does the job well. Its clean and fresh with a good amount of fresh fruit and soft vanilla along with a nice amount of honey sweetness. That being said, I would like to see Glenfiddich release a batch of it's 12 year old at a higher strength (46%), natural colour and un-chill-filtered, even if it is a limited release. I think that would certainly improve the whisky, and would appeal to the more dedicated, flavor finding whisky drinker. I would absolutely buy it, even if it was bit more expensive.
