Product Description

Created in 1796 by Basil Hayden, who went against the grain (no pun intended) by adding in rye into the traditional corn-based mashbill. It was a huge hit and today is one of Jim Beam's 'Small Batch' range of bourbons.

    Kev S,

I enjoyed it. It is a nice drink to have with buddies out around a fire. My friends enjoy Scotch I myself enjoy Bourbon more. As we live in Canada we get a variety of different Bourbons from the US but Basil Hayden is one of the ones I grab when I go to Hunting camp. It has nice flavour and is a nice sipping Bourbon.

I am definitely not as keen on this as others seem to be, although saying that i am not a big bourbon drinker. Tastes like overpowered Southern Comfort to me

A great aroma and once a big chunk of ice is added to open it up, its silky smooth. Tried with ginger ale - sweet and smooth taste.

    Trevor G,

No2 on my all time list of Bourbons. A great aroma and once a big chunk of ice is added to open it up, its silky smooth. Nothing else at this £55 price point compares in my experience.

Was delighted to have been able to track this down after an extended absence due to a general difficulty to obtain this in the UK. To give you a comparison, I have been a dedicated drinker of Woodford's Reserve for almost 20 years. And yes... Am very familiar with Makers Mark, Knob Creek, Four Roses, Blanton's, Hudson's etc... and truly adore them all. But for me... The silky smoothness and depth of flavours that just keep coming, are a signature of Basil Haydon. Like an Angel kissing your neck as it slips down your throat. Don't let the price fool you. This is top-drawer bourbon... Definitely one to treat yourself and educate your friends! Enjoy.
