    Wonderful tart and farmy notes on the nose, and a mouth-filling palate (all quite calvados-like, unsurprisingly), but badly let down for me on the finish, where an aftertaste of stale sherry comes in. I have read somewhere that the Temperleys mature most of the brandy in ex-sherry casks, which seems a shame to me based on this bottle.

    I've tried both the three and five year-old versions. The five year is slightly smoother, as you would expect, but both have a good intense flavour and depth, about as sweet as a Speyside malt. It's not cheap, but it's great stuff and is a really good digestif if you've been drinking cider with a meal.
