Product Description
The fifth of Glenmorangie's yearly Private Edition special releases - Companta, Scots Gaelic for friendship. It's a marriage of whiskies finished in Clos de Tart Grand Cru wine casks and sweet fortified wine casks from Côtes du Rhône. Dr Bill Lumsden likes to experiment each year and we suspect this will be excellent.

Tasting Notes by Billy A
Nose
Pungent - blood oranges, spiced milk chocolate, coarse black pepper, stewed plums, almonds, red apples and sweet waxiness, with underlying darker leather, damp wood and earthy notes.
Palate
Sweet and spicy to start, with fresh vanilla cream at one end of the spectrum and old oakiness at the other. More chocolate, nutmeg, liquorice, dark cocoa, black pepper, green leaves and some barrel char. Along with all of that it's packed with winey flavour - tannic grapes, rich port sweetness, cherries and some leather.
Finish
Spicy and long, with black pepper, anis, berries and orange zest.
Producer's Notes
Colour
Deep cherry red.
Nose
Rich, 'Autumnal' scents of red berries, damp forest floors, a hint of fragrant wood smoke and some aromatic, nutty oak.
Taste
Red/stewed fruits, sugared plums, blood orange, rose-hip syrup, milk chocolate, brown sugar.
Finish
Mouth-coating finish.

Best whisky I have ever tasted.
Got a bottle from the Whisky exchange at £110, sat it on the shelf for a couple of years but could not keep me eye of it! so got a glass poured some in closed me eyes and BINGO definitely Chocolate first, don't ask me how, very sweet I thought, like the Milsean sherry a bit to me, but hey its all gone now.............................me to
Extremely good.
Chocolate right off the bat! Vanillia most definitely. This dram is a special occation. I was lucky to find 2 bottles at original price. Don't worry. The nectar d'or is just as good
This stuff is pure nectar. Slight oak cherry on the tongue, deep, satisfying finish with just the tiniest hint of smoke. Its beautiful stuff, if you only buy one bottle of malt this year, this HAS to be the one.
