Glenlivet 18 Year Old Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Producer's Tasting Notes

Nose:  Elements beautifully combined. Depth of flowery aromas. Very light touch of fresh peatiness. Some sweetness and a hint of sherryish oak

    Body:  Firm, smooth

Palate:  Flowery & sweet at first, then developing peach-stone nuttiness

Finish:  Dry, appetizing. Very long, with interplay of sweet and bitter flavours

The 18 is magnificant, I have managed to turn 2 Ardbeg/Laphroaig fans back to the non peat after tasting this. Unfortunately my poker has gone down the pan as one or two drams can never be enough

Better than average but I agree with others that it has a significant burn going down. Of course they are blended, but I have been drinking Johnny Blue and Royal Salute and good blends are so freaking good. Crazy ---- but it is like half the price in the U.S.A. I would not pay what you all do.

Not the best but very nice :)

  • 11 February 2013

Fruity and smooth. Toffee, butterscotch, mint. Incredibly well-balanced whisky as there is no individual flavor overpowering the whisky. Possibly the best choice in the entire range of Glenlivet.

Absolutely amazing. Only have a minature at moment but a big bottle is definitely on shopping list. Ee. Guildford

Still in my top 5 and utterly beautiful. Incredible value for such a rich, smooth and fruity whisky that literally jumps out of the glass, gives your nose a gentle caress, and then gives you a long sexy and lingering tasteful kiss.

I agree this is very smooth and quite refined, but I also find it a bit boring.

  • 5 July 2011

Revisited this today with a friend who loves it. I cant seem to enjoy it at all finding it quite harsh and lacking flavour. The Nadurra on the other hand is exceptional and only slightly more expensive.

  • 29 June 2011

Heavy burn as goes down which overpowers it's taste, not one I'd return to.

  • 4 June 2011

its just dangerous this one, as it slides down so easily. You can easily find amount disappearing quite quickly

Lovely sweet nose and taste. I found custard creams.Would recommend this any day of the week. In my top 10.

Tried this on the basis of these type of reviews an can say it is pretty good, but not that amazing, i was waiting for something exquisite but instead was greeted by a pretty good speyside. I think i prefer the 18yr old Glennfidich and 15 Highland Park. The Glenlivet I found a bit too soapy on the palette.

I was introduced to this whiskey a few weeks ago; simply one of the best.

  • 28 June 2010

A distinguished dram. Follows the characteristics outlined in the tasting notes - however add to that a slightly peppered and very long finish.

  • 4 June 2010

Love Glenlivet as a general rule but tried this for the first time at Christmas, rushed out and bought a bottle it lasted about 3 days... 'nuff said!

  • 2 June 2010

One of the best whisky) its nose fantastic...) i even catch myself that i smell it more then 30 min and not drink at all) its very hard to stop smell it and start finally to drink)

  • 12 May 2010

Definitly one of the best i have ever had the fortune of having if the world was going to end this would be the last thing i would want to drink. Absoutly smother than smooth the perfect balance of flavors and texture i could not ask for a better scotch! Perfectly masterd!

Lovely whisky, light floral sweetness and easy drinking. Perhaps too sweet for the hardened malt man.
