Product Description
The Rare Malts are a now-discontinued series of cask-strength releases designed by Diageo to showcase some of the hidden treasures in their portfolio. This particular dram is all the more precious for having come from a distillery dismantled in 1986.

Tasting Notes
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose
The first impression is sweet, almond-like with a trace of coconut. Like Scotch pancakes, with a light mintiness behind. Later there are fleeting scents of orange peel and very ripe gooseberries. Water introduces fresh fruits, even a trace of fresh strawberry jam, while retaining the original aromas.
Body
Lightly oily. Citrus zest.
Palate
Fresh and centre-palate, with a soft mouthfeel; perhaps not quite as sweet as the nose suggests but still pleasantly sweet, with a trace of dry peat. Lemon juice and sugar on a breakfast pancake, with a surprising white-pepperiness (in flavour and effect). Dry overall.
Finish
A twist of lemon peel (acid drops!) in the medium length finish. Peppermint tea. Soothing.
