Glen Grant 50 Year Old / Sherry Cask
Product Description

An exceptional rare, long-aged release from Glen Grant. Filled on 28 October 1963 by a young Dennis Malcolm, sherry butt 5171 was left to mature for 50 years before being selected by the same man (now master distiller) and bottled on 25 November 2013. Just 150 decanters, replicas of the Glen Grant stills, have been produced, each decorated with 18-carat gold and presented in a Scottish oak box.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Ed B

    • Nose

Classic old Glen Grant, bringing back memories of bottlings from the 1960s. Amazingly complex, with incredible spicy notes - cinnamon, cumin, tobacco, Camp coffee and angelica. Like an Indian sweet shop. Touches of rancio remind you of top end Grand Champagne Cognac.

    • Palate

Very rich and deeply, deeply complex. Chewily unctuous, with an incredible moutfeel that coats the tongue and doesn't leave.

    • Finish

Goes on forever. Well, at least 10 minutes.

  • Producer's Notes

    • Appearance

      Warm golden brown, sun-kissed tones.

    • Bouquet

Soft and delectable with alluring aroma of toffee, caramel and subtle hints of dried fruits.

    • Palate

Wonderful mouth-feel with sweet sherry notes, combined with hints of orange and baked apples.

    • Finish

Rich, robust and full yet smooth with soft lingering aftertaste.
