Auchentoshan American Oak was introduced in 2014 to replace the Classic. Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks, this is a vanilla-rich and fruity whisky.Tasting Notes (2)
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Toffee popcorn wafts out of the glass, with some sweet spice from the oak and hint of candied orange peel. Some fresh lemon zestiness brightens things up, along with that classic Auchentoshan grassiness.
Soft and silky mouthfeel, with pronounced coconut and toffee notes. The sweet spice continues on to the palate, but no hard edges here. Very easy drinking.
Sweet spice and toffee, with a lingering citrus-tinged freshness.
Tasting Notes by Billy A
Lemon and sour cream, with fresh grain and vanilla – lemon cheesecake with buttery biscuit base. Grass and hay notes grow, along with lime peel, plasticine hints and milky porridge.
Single cream up front, with grapefruit peel, coconut, cinnamon and clove. The grass and porridge notes from the nose rise, along with unripe peach, green apple and some oak spice.
Spicy oak, cinnamon bark, lemon, lime and grapefruit peel.

There’s a reason this is always on offer… zero complexity or depth. Not the worst malt on the market, I suspect it’s spent between 6-8 years in the cask. It’s smooth for a NAS.
Not bad at all. Quite sweet enough without needing any extra water. Often found on offer in a well known supermarket at a special 'Clubcard' price.
Smooth sweet lingering taste no harshness, really nice with chargrilled meats
I normally drink Speyside malts but thought I would give this young highland malt a try. Subtle it isn’t. Quite a strong oak taste to my palate but not unpleasant. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Think I will stick to the smoother and more subtle products of Cardu and Glenlivet.
I’m not going to get super fancy with notes of this and that. If you want to know what this tastes like mix some Everclear with some Evan Williams and slap a sticker on it that says “Single Malt”.
