Tasting Notes by Stuart P
-
Nose
Toffee popcorn wafts out of the glass, with some sweet spice from the oak and hint of candied orange peel. Some fresh lemon zestiness brightens things up, along with that classic Auchentoshan grassiness.
-
Palate
Soft and silky mouthfeel, with pronounced coconut and toffee notes. The sweet spice continues on to the palate, but no hard edges here. Very easy drinking.
-
Finish
Sweet spice and toffee, with a lingering citrus-tinged freshness.

Nose
Lemon and sour cream, with fresh grain and vanilla – lemon cheesecake with buttery biscuit base. Grass and hay notes grow, along with lime peel, plasticine hints and milky porridge.
-
Palate
Single cream up front, with grapefruit peel, coconut, cinnamon and clove. The grass and porridge notes from the nose rise, along with unripe peach, green apple and some oak spice.
-
Finish
Spicy oak, cinnamon bark, lemon, lime and grapefruit peel.

Personally I didn't enjoy this whisky, wasn't a great experience unfortunately. It tasted very immature, raw and was a bit harsh despite being only 40%. Its clearly very young and although it was matured in 1st filled Bourbon barrels, I question the quality of the oak as it had very little flavour and almost no complexity. Doesnt help the fact it is heavily chill filtered. Luckily this was bought as a present for me, so I didn't spend my money on it. I would recommend the Three Wood instead, much better version of Auchentoshan.

One of my favorite, this is a great whisky. Simple, smooth, easy to drink

Absolutely vile. No redeeming features whatsoever. How this can be called whisky is beyond me. This was given to me as a leaving present, having been recommended by a specialist off-licence. Quite disgusting. I would give this no stars if I could. My partner agrees wholeheartedly.

There’s a reason this is always on offer… zero complexity or depth. Not the worst malt on the market, I suspect it’s spent between 6-8 years in the cask. It’s smooth for a NAS.

Not bad at all. Quite sweet enough without needing any extra water. Often found on offer in a well known supermarket at a special 'Clubcard' price.
