Product Description
A very rare example of Islay whisky at this age. Distilled in 1968, this is a combination of five sherry butts, which were married together for the final year. An exceptionally complex whisky that any Islay fan will savour.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Fruity, combining both tropical and fruit: apples, pears, papaya and mango.
Palate
Bittersweet oranges, mangos and warming spice with contrasting mint and green-tea notes.
Finish
Fruit fades to leafy herbs which become warming and minty.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose
Even before you taste this, your senses are filled with full, thick, ripe fruit and heavy, sweet, sticky nectar. A touch of menthol gives a clue to the long ageing of this whisky.
Palate
Rich Navel oranges and fleshy mango sit on a thick and warming palate, with flavours reminiscent of green tea, mint leaves and tropical fruit. The flavours are incredibly well balanced with elegance and poise.
Finish
Clean and long with carefully balanced minerality.

Customer Reviews

Decent, but pricy. I tasted the full range of Port Askaig when it was introduced to the market. Decent whisky from end to end, but every single bottle is outmatched by other Islay bottlings at half the price or less. The 45yo is the only one I would care to have on the shelf, but never at this price level. Old and rare is not enough.
