A dense, heavily-sherried dram from a distillery now producing again after a six-year layoff. A malt best suited to after-dinner sipping.Tasting Notes (1)
Tasting Notes by Billy A
Sweet, rich and spicy fruit, with sugared lemons and limes, granny smith apples, honey and caramel.
Toffee sweetness, apples, a hint of vanilla and a rich dark fruit background. Water lightens things with more orchard fruit, but without diminishing the richness of the dark fruit hiding underneath.
Dusty wood, raisins and sweet fruit leaves.
A solid sherried whisky sitting at the bottom of the Glendronach range but punching above well above its price-point.

It's true...was a great single malt but changed... became flat not so rich sherry used to be... Another drink that loses its original delicious taste.(Macallan ,Lagavulin,Bowmore...)
I’ve drank a couple of bottle over the last year and I was my favourite dram. I ran out so bought another couple of bottles. Unfortunately the flavour has changed. It doesn’t have the rich sherry flavour and there is a lot more burn. Most disappointing. Two stars awarded where last years bottle would be five.
Nice and smooth, quite a-lot of depth for a 12. Vanilla & toffee notes definitely worth buying
A nice after dinner whiskey. Very sherried and sweet on the nose... palate ok... finish could be better.
Firstly, this is a great whisky, very similar in many ways to its closest relative Aberlour 12. When tasting Glendronach 12 I used Aberlour 12 as a reference point against which I could compare and contrast. The Glendronach was is like a rich sweet pudding, certainly like Christmas cake as is often reported, but with a icing sugar sweetness to it. It is full but delicate in its complexity. I find Aberlour to be slightly more robust, more towards the savoury end of sherry sweetness, more like dark chocolate also rich and full. Both are wonderful drams, my personal preference is the Aberlour, it is on the right point on the sweetness scale for me, but the Glendronach is also fantastic and I am thoroughly enjoying the bottle.
