Crested is the new name for Jameson's Crested Ten with an updated look, but the same blend. This is made with older aged Jameson with a high measure of pure pot-still whiskey in the mix, a fair proportion of which has been aged in sherry casks to add spicy sweetness.
More from Jameson
A great friend of mine brought me back a bottle of crested in the late summer of 2018. He and his son had gone to Ireland together for an education conference that he had a presentation for during his PHD studies. Now I must say I was not a super fan of the Jamison sold in the USA, but I did like the cask mates I tried at an Irish Fest. So I was surprised when he handed Me a gift from Ireland and I found a .700 of Jamison in it and two glasses from the distillery. My buddy said this is an unbelievably good whiskey. We do a bit of scotch and other whiskey’s together. On his recommendation I was anxious to try it. When I opened it, there was this amazing smell of sweet Grains and malt, it had a nice color of soft gold. I poured and it smelled even better. With my first taste I just lit up with amazement. The taste was excellent. The closet thing to my one pour of Middletons I had a year before. It was soft and buttery with a thick body and sweet grains and barley, like a short bread. The flavor coated the mouth and tongue with a fullness of flavor. The finish was long and sweet. There was no hint of the alcohol in the nose or the mouth. It was one of the whiskies I have ever had. It compared right at the top with Redbreast, Green Dot, and Middletons. All I have to do is find where to buy it in the US.
Way better than the standard Jameson whiskey, this is what Irish whiskey is supposed to taste like. Particularly good on the way home after a night shift, when one needs a fillip with the end in sight but potentially a long wait for the bus!
Jamesone Crested is exceptional. I enjoyed it while in Ireland not too long ago and am glad the Whisky Exchange ships to the United States since it is not sold here.
I’ve tried all of the Jameson’s whiskey and this is one of my favorites. It’s worth every penny I pay to import it.
