Nikka From the Barrel Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Spicy and peppery, but there’s a richness behind it, with spicy oak and soft orange fruitiness, and soft vanilla notes from the bourbon cask.
Palate: Grainy sweetness and candied orange peel, quite rich, accompanied by rich cinnamon and clove.
Finish: Great balance, this really needs a little water to allow the flavours to unfurl.
Comment: Characterful stuff, this whisky has plenty of personality, and shows a delightful balance between the spicy pepperiness and rich citrus fruit.

Tasted with Tante Anne. Her notes appear in quotes.
Bubble gum, dry sherry, and a zip of orange zest. Evaporated milk, sweet caramel chews.
'Smells Japanese. Like old wooden Japanese homes' (she has spent a lot of time in Japan).
Minty sherry oak and plastic bags. Walnuts, raspberry seeds, delicious bittersweet notes like slices of Gala apples. Very dry finish with some pine and a cocoa smokiness.
Nose opened up with time and patience and made varied impressions. Water dulled the impact on the palate but helped discriminate between flavours. A very impressive package in a very impressive package. And another rich but affordable Japanese whisky. There is something Aberlour and Teaninich about it.
Tried it as a mizuwari (served with water and ice) and it was gentle, but with a surprisingly complex array of flavours from brioche to cherries to chocolatey smoke.

Exceptional whisky, superb flavours, no burn yet it's strong, up there the best single malts yet this is a blend! Do yourself a favour and grab a bottle.
Such a nice sipping whisky !
i was introduced to Nikki by my son and an arto\idle about the Japanese whiskey industry. From the first taste it changed my whole outlook to whiskeys. I was raised with American Bourbons, and Scottish single malt whiskey, not any more. Japanese for me."
A great everyday sipping whisky. Soon to be an ex malt Scotch drinker!
My usual taste leans towards single malts from Scotland. A friend presented a bottle of NIKKA , wow .. what a fine blend. This will my wish list as of now.
Bought this for my partner who had previously tried Hibiki 17 and he loved it, he now prefers Japanese whiskey to Scottish!
Japanese whisky is truly speaking superior to Scottish whisky. Anyone who doubts that should purchase this whisky. Flavours are robust. Colour beautiful.

Quite a surprise to a mature drunkard)) caramel fucks orange in a dark an japanese themed dungeon ( barrel), spills some vanilla all over it and gives it a kick with 40% alco wow!
Really enjoyed this whisky. Definitely will be buying more
Spiced old wood, a touch of new wood, incense, a bit of tea and spiced oranges. Heavy distillery character....smells exactly like the nikka miyagikyo distillery. Wonderful stuff.
Great taste with ice.
Really nice and good value!
fantastic. My go to with a cube of ice.
First try and it has the wow factor ! This could become my favorite go to whisky !
Color: Golden Nose: Sweet, honey, apples, melon, liquorice, mint, chocolate Palate: After brushing teeth: dry/sweet entry, light, hints of fruity aroma, liquorice, spicy, lemon Finish: Slightly bitter, sweet, long and warm Although 500ml bottle is a little small, 51% makes up for some of it. Good whisky neat without any water added, flavors are complex, lots of oak and fruit, honey. Very spicy even after having it sits for 30min. great whisky to sip on with a long finish, can savor of the flavor long after swallowing.
Liquidy, particularly when water and ice is added. A hint of teak sideboard, broken pencil, finishes on a dry ski slope
Brilliantly smooth for the high alcohol content. Hints of citrus and vanilla with a little spice. I enjoy mine with a ice cube.
