Johnnie Walker Old Harmony Bot.1970s

I have amassed several bottles of this HTF whisky over the last couple of years with the hoard now residing in climate controlled storage along with the rest of my vintage spirits collection. I opened a bottle recently to celebrate a friends birthday as well as quelling my curiosity of tasting this whisky rarity from Johnnie Walker that was bottled predominately for the Japanese/Asian market in the early 1990's. Thankfully the cork came out cleanly from a bottle that had not suffered evaporation, This is a rich, full bodied spirit with abv 43% and reminiscent of other whiskies like vintage JW Black label, Dunhill Special edition & Bell's royal reserve 20 yr old from the 1960/70's, slightly smokey, citrus notes including pear & honeyed apples, while exhibiting vegetal notes throughout finishing with a waxy, lanolin mouthfeel including sweet overtones of vanilla custard and stewed fruits, I believe the slightly higher abv of 43% does make a difference to the overall effect. Another 70's whisky brand John Player Special 15 yr old blend also reminded me of this whisky, very clean while still rich & fulsome also old bottle effect was not evident here, I believe this whisky was stored optimally over the last intervening few decades. If you are fortunate to be offered this rarity from John Walker & Sons, grab it with both hands, I promise that you wont be disappointed. Cheers to All...
