Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold is an innovative bottling from Diageo. Made using whisky distilled in the cold Scottish winter, it is intended to be served from the freezer, delivering richness and sweetness as the glass warms up. Honeyed with a hint of peat.

Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose
Classic Dalwhinnie aromas of flowers, honey and green fruit – apples and fresh pair. Clean and precise. Nice honeyed warmth, too.
-
Palate
Very soft on the palate, with slightly warming honeyed fruit. Soothing texture, with light floral notes mingling with soft fruits and just a touch of spice.
-
Finish
Soft spice and sweet honey.

Comment
Dalwhinnie makes enchanting, easy-drinking drams. Winter’s Gold is in the same vein as the stands 15yo, with soft fruit and gentle heather-honey notes. Very approachable and satisfying.

I liked this scotch. I bought it an airport duty free. I had no idea what it was but I was happy with it. It a very smooth scotch. I would definitely buy it again.

Tastes like a cheap blended whiskey and leaves a horrible aftertaste. I like to try different single malts but this is by far the worst one on my list so far.

disappointingly weak and lacking in flavour. Dalwhinnie used to serve up some excellent stuff but this is really lacking in flavour. not sure about this freezer idea neither.

Very nice drop, interplay with heather, honey & peat. Don't get peat element in the 15yo but it's definitely noticeable in this. 4.5/5
