• Balvenie 21 Year Old / Port Wood
Product Description

Secondary maturation in 30 year old tawny port pipes brings extra layers of complexity to this soft and honeyed single malt. You can expect vivid notes of vanilla caramel, jammy red fruits, cherries and peaches. Rich and indulgent, this is a great example of The Balvenie’s masterful use of cask finishing. A great after dinner dram that makes for an excellent gift.

Balvenie 21 Year Old

Port Wood

Each expression in the Cask Finishes series is matured in two different cask types in succession, adding extra depth and complexity to The Balvenie’s soft, honeyed single malt. This 21-year-old whisky is finished in casks that previously held sweet Port wines, creating a dram with layers of sticky dried fruits, toasted nuts and sweet spices that coat the palate and linger gently in the finish.

About

The Balvenie

One of the original seven stills of Dufftown, The Balvenie has been in business since 1892. Its storied history is full of experimentation, a spirit of curiosity that has been passed down through the generations. Though the distillery boasts an open-minded approach to distilling and maturation, it also maintains a connection with tradition. Today, it is one of only seven distilleries in Scotland to operate a floor maltings on-site. It’s not the easiest way to get malted barley, or the cheapest, but having direct control over the raw materials has allowed Balvenie to remain creative.

Right up there as some of the finest whisky to pass my lips: a beautifully rounded, fruity flavour with a silky sweet finish…one for the top shelf

    Royal,

I tried 14 excellent whiskies at a tasting last weekend. This one was the clear winner. It was the unanimous winner among myself and my six friends. Can't recommend it enough!

    Matt,

Finally got round to buying one of these. I wasn't disappointed! The port flavours are balanced and it doesn’t come across too sweet. Had to have a few glasses just to check but definitely a worthwhile addition to the whisky cupboard.
