Balvenie 1968 Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Rich aromas of pastries and candied peel, with tropical fruit (mango and ripe peach), a touch of grass, and weightier notes of liquorice and leather.
Palate: Heady and rich with ripe tropical fruit – so much of it! – with orange peel and a more savoury leathery note. There’s a little spiciness, but it’s very much a bit-part player to the layers of fruit and leather.
Finish: The ripe fruit gently fades, tempered by the balancing leather and wood notes from the cask. Sophisticated and stylish.
Comment: This is Balvenie, but a grown-up version that has left its sweet and spicy days behind, maturing into something bolder and serious.
