Laphroaig 10yo is a full-bodied, smoky gem, with a residual sweetness and a hint of salt amid the seaweedy, peaty characters before a long warming finish. A classic dram.Tasting Notes (1)

At 43% ABV this is a fine dram. There is strong road tar throughout along with pears and salt and really it is full of enticing mystery. It makes me want to time travel to Scotland in the 18th century and run around in a kilt.
I think every Scotch lover should try this whisky. You may not like it, but you will appreciate the fact that it is a whisky that has a distinct taste. Yesterday I got bit by a six foot Eastern (USA) diamondback rattlesnake, came in the house and poured some L10 on the bite, drank a dram or two, and went back out to bite the rattler. It's simply good whisky!
Amazing stuff. Love that medicinal/plaster/swimming pool note! It does hit you in the face, and as much as I'd like to carry in sipping this all night long - I can only take a couple of pours before I have to move on.
L-10 smells like someone put out a hospital fire with a mermaid's bathwater and mercurochrome, scooped up the runoff and served it up in the well-used ashtray of a 1972 Chevy Nova. Pretty much the same on the palate with hints of those chunky, convenience store meat sticks and a sweet lingering finish of brown sugar and ashy marshmallow skins burnt charcoal black over a campfire... ...but in a good way! It's a perfect whisky for those who like pungent, earthy things like black coffee, Guinness, cigars, licorice, unfiltered Camels, snuff, espresso, unsweet tea, unflavored pipe tobacco, etc...
Poetry, memory and history in a glass.
