Laphroaig 10yo is a full-bodied, smoky gem, with a residual sweetness and a hint of salt amid the seaweedy, peaty characters before a long warming finish. A classic dram.

    Russt,

I'm amazed at the sporadic -ve reviews, or perhaps I'm not. When you first come to this whisky you will either love it or hate it. I love peated whiskies and this is right up there with the best.

    Dan,

Like sucking a lump of coal in a hospital clean room. But like, in a good way.

    Anonymous,

I just purchased my first bottle of Laphroaig 10 year old scotch. I was surprised that it didn't have any fruit or sweetness at first, just smoke and tar (in a good way mind you). A little back story if I may about my first encounter with Scotch. My friend and I stole a bottle of J&B from my Dad's stash when we were 16 and headed off into the woods. I'm from Canada and the bottle said Whisky, so I was expecting a certain taste. To my shock and my friend's also, it tasted like someone had been soaking their old socks in it for a month. I swore I would never touch scotch whisky again. Forward to age 47 a friend suggested single malt scotch and gave me a bottle of the Genlivet. I was astonished, this was great. I am now 62 and have since then tried so many good single malts over the years. I will have to tell you that was more into the Speyside and Lowland Scotches, but this is just so good. Fair price too. I Also get a kick out of some of the reviews, like burnt rubber and chimney soot.. I get smoke a touch of good black licorice and seasalt. And then if I wait a little bit something else comes on. Just a great experience.
