Laphroaig 10yo is a full-bodied, smoky gem, with a residual sweetness and a hint of salt amid the seaweedy, peaty characters before a long warming finish. A classic dram.Tasting Notes (1)

Producer's Tasting Notes
Full sparkling gold.
Huge smoke, seaweedy, "medicinal", with a hint of sweetness.
Suprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness.

Well said - Jack Tomlin, 13 September - Laph 10 is way complex and fruity tasty I love this Laphy 10. Its said to be in your face peaty, but really it's not. Yes peaty (or really iodiney on the nose ) but so much more complex than just peat. This like most Laphroaigs are smoky / iodinese on the nose but fresh and fruity on the taste, with a salty fruity after taste. Fanatastic
Lagavulin, Laphroiag and Ardbeg, my holy trinity of whiskies
It's funny really, reading the comments where people say it's undrinkable because of the smokiness, and even that they will pour it down the drain. I'm a peat man, for sure, so I enjoy Laphroaig 10 greatly. But being so accustomed to peat, and having reference points of smokiness all the way up to the most aggressive Octomores, when I now nose Laphroaig 10 in my Glencairn, I honestly don't get any 'smoke' (which really isn't always the best descriptor of peat anyway). What I get now is creaminess, pear, custard, butterscotch. It's the same with the palate. Now don't get me wrong, when I first tried it as a peat rookie, it was all just a shock and none of those creamy fruity subtleties came forth. What I'm trying to say is, if you're drinking Laphroaig 10 or other peaty whiskies and it's all a horrible shock, it might pay off to persevere. And please! Don't throw it down the drain. The drains don't deserve it. Find a peat lover and pass on the love. They will appreciate it.
I was so so disappointed with this whisky, it should be in a larger bottle, I had to go and buy another bottle, I have tried various other malts but always come back to this one, love it. Love the smells and how the taste lingers on and on.
Used to find this too much of a punch in the face and pretended to like it, but going back to it after some non-peated whiskys and Islays, this is amazing. Wife is a baker and being around those bakery smells brings out a strong lemon sponge and sugariness, which sits above the smoke and minerals. Love it.
