Creamy butterscotch, toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard, and newly felled oak.
Wood spices (ginger and nutmeg), citrus, caramel, raisins and resinous.
Oak lingers, warm, sweet and drying.

This is my husband's favourite tipple, and it arrived in time for his birthday even thoughthere's still restrictions, so thankyoufor that. I'm not a whisky lover but I had a sip and it's very smooth, there's something about which makes it stand out from the rest. It's not the cheapest and in this case you get what you pay for. I think this will be a regular order!
First taste tonight. It won't be my last bottle. Very smooth. Full flavour. Slight citrus notes along with nutmeg linger just long enough to encourage the next sip without intruding on it (i don't talk like this usually but seems to be whisky drinker's parlance). Possibly my new favourite.
I just picked up a bottle of this, because my go-to liquor store was out of the Triple-Cask, which had previously been my favorite (I only buy scotch with no caramel color added, so that greatly narrows down the market for me). Seriously, Scotland - time to step up your game if you want to compete with Kentucky Bourbon - Artificially coloring the Scotch is deceptive any way you try to spin it, and consumers with any standards aren't interested in being scammed. Swallow your pride and take a lesson from bourbon standards. I promise sales will remain consistent, and you'll save money by eliminating that coloring step in production. Artificial color rant over. Thank God the Triple Cask was sold-out, because I've been interested in tasting the double-cask, if just to see if I'd notice the difference in price. I did notice the difference, but was pleasantly surprised to find I prefer the Double-Oak. I won't disagree with the reviews that say it tastes like wood or is too mild compared to the triple cask or sherry cask. That just happens to be my preference. So my new favorite is Macallan 12 Double Oak, with the Glendorach 12 second (spicier with only that Spanish oak, but sometimes that's what I'm in the mood for).
The macallan 12 was my first single malt that I had. Then I decided tried double cask recently I do like vanilla flavor in it and it’s always been natural color which is a plus
Firstly, I don’t pretend to be a connoisseur of single malts and normally opt for the more peaty Islay taste. For a change, we decided to try the Macallan 12 year old double cask on a friends recommendation. We really appreciated the smooth rounded taste of this malt and were instantly hooked. We have just placed our second order!
