Bunnahabhain Ceobanach Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Sprightly aromas of peat, tarry rope and ozone, lifted by aromatic citrus – lemon peel in particular. Has a real spring in its step.
Palate: Fresh and lively. Soft mouthfeel, with clean, refreshing lemon oil and freshly ground black pepper, followed by evocative maritime notes of brine, ozone and seaweed.
Finish: Medium, with good balance between the peat and citrus.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Colour: Lemon gold
Nose: Intense and pungent, phenolic, fragrant smoke, light tar, sweet oak, seaweed, creamy and mildly antiseptic
Palate: Sweet maltiness, then a lovely balance of a tangy smokiness and vanilla notes, mellow and smooth, white pepper, hints of bitter orange, liquorice and sea salt
Finish: Oatcakes, peppery sweet smoke, then sea salt again, lingering

Flavors as described - spot on! A great after dinner drum :)
Brilliant, for me one of the best Islay's I've drunk. the perfect balance between the big peated and medicinal soutern whisky's and the more elegant northern Islay's. A big five star for this super dram, equal with Ardbeg corryvrecken and, the best kept secret, Finlaggan cask strengh.
What a lovely dram. Very smooth to drink.
Got this duty free for a friend but ended up keeping it for myself. Amazingly smooth and drinkable. Would recommend.
Sometimes these oddly named special releases don''t live up to expectations, but I was really pleasantly surprised by Ceobanach. For my taste it''s really spot on. It''s fresh and lively, the balance between the pehnolic and sweet-citrusy notes is just right and so is its smoothness. Very easily drinkable. The balance reminds me a little bit of Ardbeg 10. More conservative reviewers might find this a bit pricy for the age, but for me the taste and pure enjoyment of this whisky live up to its price.
This is really good, best islay I''ve tasted for a while. I think I got the last bottle of it as well, cracking whisky from a good consistent distillery. Well done bunnahabhain.
