Tasting Notes by Rocky
Nose: Intense salty, maritime character, backed up by sour lemons and bitter oranges, with the smoke very much in the background.
Palate: The smoke comes to the fore in the mouth. Ashy, earthy and drying, with spicy cardamom and clove appearing and the fruity notes from the nose taking a back seat.
Finish: Medium to long – the ash and earth are joined by hints of tropical fruit (mango and pineapple), which slowly dissipate to reveal a dry, smoky ending.
Comment: An elegant yet complex aged Islay that combines classic peated-whisky notes of ash and earth with some fruitier tones. This is a sipper and definitely one to sit and take your time over.

Nose: Crisp, stony smoke hides a layer of muddy peat. There are hints of flowers and a thick and spicy middle, reminding me of sponge-cake batter.
Palate: A syrupy sweet start is quickly overtaken by flinty smoke and charcoal dust, sherbert fountains, lemons and a hint of violet.
Finish: Long and lingering, with sappy wood and sherbet lemons giving way to wood ash in a cast iron stove. After that there’s a lingering green leafiness – fruit leaves? Water: Dirties up the nose with heavily smoked bacon and adds more sweet and sour fruit to the body – lemons, limes and berries galore. The finish loses some of its its ashy bitterness, becoming softer and sweeter.

Nose: Crisp and maritime to start, with crashing waves fading to seaside bonfires and earthy peat.
Palate: Ash and earth lead to syrupy sweetness. Candied lemons, charcoal, cloves and sherbet.
Finish: Long and lingering, mixing up tropical fruit and earthy smoke.

I do not drink alcohol. Blindly ourchased it for my Uncle who loves whiskey. Great reviews from him and my cousin who HAD to purchase one for himself STAT! Sending him his own personalized bottle?? Thank you! My new go to family gift!
Absolutely one of my favorite whiskys. Just wish I could buy some more
Brilliant Dram Character is spot on I''m sure I have my guesses as to wich distillery it comes from. Big bold huge flavores. Really awesome big fan.
It''s a great whisky, reminds me of a nice Caol Ila or even a Port Ellen. But, just a bit expensive in my opinion, which is why it''s not ranked even higher.
Smoky aromas and citric flavors. High class distinct and recognizable dram!!
Very elegant! Not strong at all like Laphroaig...i would give 4 points.
There is lemon, mint with some light smoke. Tastes fantastic. Highly recommended.
We are getting; Arbroath smokies, heavy hints of nurses with TCP, essence of guy Fawks on holiday on the west coast Completed with a honeycomb finish.
Nose is complex: lemon and mint. Green apples. Fresh and bright. Brine and minerals stand out for the most part. Mouth: quite briny with lots of lemon and grapefruit. The presence of peat is rather strong, supported by liquorice and pepper. Soft medicinal notes too. A little almond oil and nice hints of gingerbread. Finish: medium long, clean and smoky. No need for water, drink neat. Quite decent dram, one should try.
First tried a port askaig in a bar, went out and bought this the same week. Wonderful dark fruit flavours backed up by a heavy honey sweetness. So good.
Got a bottle of this yesterday. Tasted it today, wow, fantastic! I love caol isla, this is very recognisable as that, but has something extra, quite distinctive. This is deffinatly the first of many for me from Port Askaig.
