Customer Rating
An intriguing blended malt, featuring whisky from both Miyagikyo and Yoichi, as well as some ‘grain’ whisky that is actually malt whisky made in a Coffey still at Miyagikyo.

Nikka All Malt Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Rich and full, with aromas of cinnamon and chocolate.

Palate: A plush palate of dark chocolate cake, candied orange peel and sweet spice, enlivened by a mild peppery backnote.

Finish: Lively and peppery, with more of that seductive citrus character.

Boring. Expected more out of it. Good thing that I bought it on sales.

Quite harsh. Not too bad but not top of the list...Slightly crude finish, less aromatic than expected

At first it will definitely bark at you, then really ~mellows down to a fabulous after taste, combining hint of citrus, cherry, vanilla oak , chocolate. Wow the last drop will blow your mind! Great marketing with the plain, 500 ml bottle. Fantastic VALUE!

My absolute favourite blended malt. When Johnnie Walker Green Label went out of production I moved to BNJ. When that too became unavailable I was distraught... Until discovered this little gem! A truly beautiful whisky in possibly the ugliest and cheapest looking bottle I've ever seen. My 67yo father also loves it. We drank a whole bottle over 2 evenings.

One of the greatest whisky in taste and after taste. Smooth rich completely sweety chocolaty with light hints of citrus. 5

Quite good and definitely something different. Not sure it is truly representative of Japanese Whisky at its best though.

    Fruit basket.

  • M. Ozdamar 21 April 2012

This is a very moreish whisky; smooth and sweet. It is not a complex whisky but it makes a very enjoyable and affordable everyday whisky

Bit disappointin really - which is a surprise because Nikka 'from the barrel' is by the same firm but SO much better. Fascinating hints of cherry blossom - although a bit firey and short. Vanilla Oak is a bit to domminant.

This whiskey is not too bad but it is not great either. A bit rough and lacks good finish.

I am afraid I will have to disagree most of the reviews.... it is totally out of balance. Way tooo much coconut,,, and coconut,,, and coconuts.... Just not my type... It is just a boring

  • Freddie Reidy, Somerset 11 May 2011

Definitely one to try! This was my first Japanese whisky and a great introduction. Very drinkable, and an interesting alternative to scotch, add a little water and the falvours develop into something quite unique harking back to its cherry blossom origins. A good price too!

  • Audrius 13 November 2010

Excellent. Not as sweet as some reviews may suggest. It's spayside-y and it's good. Not as good as "from the barrel" but still - very good.

  • steve 3 November 2010

This is simply really good whisky and should be enjoyed by all. Better than a lot of Scotch that I have had.

  • Martin Shillitoe 2 March 2010

A really enjoyable Japanese whisky that is bursting with flavour and is well balanced. Really good value for money too.

  • matt 13 5 February 2010

A full-flavoured, hot and very drinkable whisky.
