  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

    Nose: Rich and full, with aromas of cinnamon and chocolate.

    Palate: A plush palate of dark chocolate cake, candied orange peel and sweet spice, enlivened by a mild peppery backnote.

    Finish: Lively and peppery, with more of that seductive citrus character.

    Boring. Expected more out of it. Good thing that I bought it on sales.

    Quite harsh. Not too bad but not top of the list...Slightly crude finish, less aromatic than expected

    At first it will definitely bark at you,then really ~mellows down to a fabulous after taste, combining hint of citrus,cherry, vanilla oak , chocolate. Wow the last drop will blow your mind! Great marketing with the plain, 500 ml bottle. Fantastic VALUE!

    My absolute favourite blended malt. When Johnnie Walker Green Label went out of production I moved to BNJ. When that too became unavailable I was distraught... Until discovered this little gem! A truly beautiful whisky in possibly the ugliest and cheapest looking bottle I've ever seen. My 67yo father also loves it. We drank a whole bottle over 2 evenings.

    One of the greatest whisky in taste and after taste. Smooth rich completely sweety chocolaty with light hints of citrus. 5

    Quite good and definitely something different. Not sure it is truly representative of Japanese Whisky at its best though.

    This is a very moreish whisky; smooth and sweet. It is not a complex whisky but it makes a very enjoyable and affordable everyday whisky

    Bit disappointin really - which is a surprise because Nikka 'from the barrel' is by the same firm but SO much better. Fascinating hints of cherry blossom - although a bit firey and short. Vanilla Oak is a bit to domminant.

    This whiskey is not too bad but it is not great either. A bit rough and lacks good finish.

    I am afraid I will have to disagree most of the reviews.... it is totally out of balance. Way tooo much coconut,,, and coconut,,, and coconuts.... Just not my type... It is just a boring

    Definitely one to try! This was my first Japanese whisky and a great introduction. Very drinkable, and an interesting alternative to scotch, add a little water and the falvours develop into something quite unique harking back to its cherry blossom origins. A good price too!

    Excellent. Not as sweet as some reviews may suggest. It's spayside-y and it's good. Not as good as "from the barrel" but still - very good.
