Jerome Grieco owns old vineyards in Chateauneuf-du-Pape that are covered with the big round 'galet' stones so typical of the region. He works his vineyards organically and produces a Chateauneuf-du-Pape that shows surprising restraint. This is not a blockbuster Chateauneuf-du-Pape but it is definitely one you can go for a second glass of, even a second bottle. Try this with a hearty stew or pheasant.
Black and red hedgerow fruits and some earthy spices that is married with thyme and rosemary; the tannins are well managed and ripe and the finish has a lovely coolness to it. – Dawn Davies MW
