We've chosen this 2002 single-cask whisky from Bruichladdich's Micro-Provenance series as an exclusive bottling. Soft with an oily texture and lots of fruity notes, this combines the fruity and grassy notes of old with creamy, citrus notes of recent years. This is a must-try and proof that Islay can make great unpeated whisky.

Tasting note by Billy Abbott (The Whisky Exchange)
-
Nose
Apricots and wobbly lemon tarts with cheesecake hints. Pie crust and a toffee glaze develop, followed by sultanas, apple sauce, poached pears and caramel wafers.
-
Palate
Soft and oily with stacks of fruit – mostly apple and pear, both fresh and stewed, as well as lemon and tropical hints: papaya and pineapple. Brown sugar and pastry notes develop, with Ryvita touches, Hobnob biscuits and golden-syrup-drizzled porridge.
-
Finish
Freshly cut apple and liquorice powder, fading to orange cream and porridgey grain.
-
Comment
New Bruichladdich has really come of age, combining the fresh and grassy notes from before its closure with a creamy, fruity and citrus-tinged character developed since its reopening.
