Bought a bottle of this after the Liverpool Whisky Festival 2017, on September 23rd. I actually went with this in mind and it did not disappoint. The best thing about this whisky is that it tastes excellent at its full cask strength of 61.1%, but also tastes great as you add water, which makes each dram last longer. Spicy, with plums and cinnamon coming through for me. Truly excellent. I'm so happy to have bought this out of the 38 whiskies I tried on the day.
Underrated and thankfully underpriced. This is one of the best heavily sherried cask strengths I've tried. One of the only whiskys I add water to and think tastes better. It has a profile more similar to a vintage bourbon than a single malt. With the right amount of water and a blindfold you could think it was George T Stagg Junior.
#58 not as good as 55....or 53 ....or49 of fond memory), but better than the raw ,fiery #59 which may possibly be made so a whisky flavour can punch through sweet, fruity continntal cocktails....it certainy is NOT a 'sipping whisky 'as it takes At LEAST 30% water to be even vaguely palatable, such is its juvenile rawness......58 is spicy ,but not THAT bad......but wghere are the a'Bunadhs of ols]d....I canlt believe aberour doesn't hab ve any of the decent stuff left -so are they just cashing in....while driving this marque into the ground......? -I can't believe others aren't calling this as it's NOT the style or quality it used to be.
Tasted aberlour abunadh whisky at the distillery & it tasted absolutely beautiful ! what a lovely young malt
