I have had Machir Bay several times, and like other reviewers I prefer Islay Whiskies, and this does not disappoint. Very smooth, lightly peated, lovely all round smooth taste. Slips down far too easily!
I have a special preference for Islay whisky's. This one however is not your standard Islay. It is smoother, sweeter and more forgiving. There's warmth in the taste and just a moderate amount of peat in the aftertaste. There's some honey and caramel, a dash of wood. It's an absolute marvelous whisky and I can't recommend it enough, late in the afternoon after a walk through the forest, or in the evening while reading a book.
Kilchoman Machir Bay is very balanced peated and sweet whisky at a price that do not break the bank.
Just picked this up and as someone who likes variety in his collection, this fits the bill. An Islay which stands alone. Very happy with this! Solid offering and definitely makes me want to hunt down more expressions from this distillery
Very good. Tasted this alongside the Ardbeg Corryvreckan. I prefer this.
