Benrinnes 1995 Reviews
Tasting notes from Billy Abbott (The Whisky Exchange)
Nose: Sweet and elegant, with freshly clipped grass mingling with old-school sweet-shop flavours: fruity travel sweets, candy teeth and bracelets, rhubarb and custards, and pineapple kubes. Freshly scraped vanilla pods sit behind along with dusty bookshelves and old polished oak tables.
Palate: Creamy toffee rolls across the palate, followed by crunchy barley sugar, leafy tarragon and a dusting of spicy cinnamon. The cream and toffee build through the middle, surrounded by flashes of anise and cinnamon heat, apple sauce, and polished oak.
Finish: Sharp apple and unripe pineapple fade through cinnamon spiciness to leave damp oak and earthy spice.
Comment: An old-fashioned dram that focuses on the fruity side of Benrinnes's spirit.
