Aged in small casks in the cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, this is a sumptuous tawny port with intense aromas of dried apricots and crystallised fruit, alongside rich dried fruit and nutty flavours.
An old Tawny port is always a good match for cheeses and dense chocolate puddings, but you can also try serving it lightly chilled as an aperitif.

If, like myself, you are too old to wait for vintage ports to mature and too poor to afford one ready to drink, a twenty year old tawny is an excellent solution. Niepoort can be trusted to produce top quality tawnies and this is no exception. I prefer to drink it chilled as an aperitif to revel in the rich woodiness. Highly recommend.
