      Rich and fruity, with dry oaky spice, menthol, raisins, cigar boxes, marmalade and ashy smoke.

      Spice and dark sugar syrup leading to bitter dark chocolate, caramel sauce and black pepper.

      Long and smoky, with roasted coffee, ash and liquorice touches.

    Best Distillers Edition anywhere on the Planet. Still stunned that the 16 yr still sells for more. Talisker DE is the closest to this in flavor experience and at 90+% of the Laga at a discount makes for good competition. But nothing beats this one, pure and simple. Ardbeg Corryvrekan is in the same class but just not this DE experience overall. I have tasted few whiskys that beat anything Islay and South Islay stands alone.

    It was a tad disappointing! It came with rave reviews from a colleague but didn’t live up to my expectations. I found quite harsh tasting.

    I sample my malts both with and without a drop or two of water. I like this one with water. Both ways, I get berrylike sweetness all day. Neat, I get more sea salt on the finish; yet with water, it is smooth from arrival to departure. Water opens the layers of flavor and this deep, rich, round flavor should be unpacked. I don't get overpowering smoke with this one, but it's there.
