An aromatic and intensely fruity liqueur that's teaming with ripe blackcurrants, plus subtle hints of raspberry and earthiness. It's sweet but well balanced and is great either in the rocks or in cocktails – mixing it with sparkling for a Kir Royale is a must.
Born in Bordeaux in 1714, Marie Brizard would go on to create a definitive recipe for anisette liqueur which would make her name. Her eponymous company has been producing this, and many other liqueurs, ever since.

It has less 'body' than my last purchase (of a rival product) but it fills the bill. The French put cassis in white wine. I add it to chilled cider (20 ml/300 ml) to make a delicious pink drink.
